Giant Jaeger at great price
This Cherno Alpha figure is huge and incredible with only minor things about the figure itself worth critiquing.
1. The head is a bit wobbly and comes off easier than I would like (it’s overall good that it comes off because that’s how you access the battery compartment for the lights in the head, it just seems to come off too easily, and a giant robot with a head that bobbles easily seems silly).
2. Some of the joints, especially around the shoulders are very stiff. Maybe a hairdryer to loosen them would work (I have yet to try). I fear trying to force movement because I would be devastated to break such a pricey figure.
3. For my figure, when I removed the tab in the battery compartment for the main body lights, a spark occurred, and nothing would happen when I pressed the button to turn them on. I removed the batteries and reinserted them and now all the lights work except for one which burnt out with the initial odd spark.
Review of Amok Time toys and overall buying experience:
Incredible! This figure is pricey, you may rightfully think. When it was first released 12 years ago (which I somehow never knew about until recently), it retailed for about $100. Adjusted for inflation, that’s about $140. So, really, Amok Time is listing it for about $30 more (or $18 in 2013 currency). That’s a fantastic price for such a hard-to-find item (unless you want to pay 2x or more through somewhere like eBay). Amok also shipped incredibly quickly and offered great customer service when I reached out to make sure they really had this rare figure.
I am extremely satisfied with this huge Cherno Alpha and with Amok Time!
